The local Guilderland
shopping center will be renamed “Hamilton Square” in honor
of the area’s history.
The site
located along Route 20 was settled by the Dutch and was once
known as the Village of Hamilton. Prior to being named 20
Mall, the center was formerly known as Loehmans Plaza and
Guilderland Barkers Center. "We are excited
about the
transformation of 20 Mall to Hamilton Square," said William
Lia, Jr." The renovations will make the shopping
center a proud landmark that it
once was for the Town."
The open
air plaza, anchored by Price Chopper, hosts a unique
combination of national, regional, and local merchants and
eateries. Gold’s Gym will relocate its entrance and
expand into the current Yankee Dollar space, which will be
relocated within the center. Kevin Parisi, President
of Trinity Realty Group, stated “there is tremendous
interest from a number of regional and national retailers,
restaurants, and specialty shops to locate here.”
Renovations are expected to be completed by Spring, 2011.
Located at
the southwest corner of Routes 155 & 20.
Approximately 2.3 miles
from Interstate 87, Adirondack Northway & Interstate 90. This is
one of the busiest intersections in the greater Capital
District.
